Widows in Karimnagar – Telangana in India are discriminated against, oppressed and marginalised on all fronts. The widow is held responsible for her husband’s death, has no rights and is excluded because she would bring bad luck.
The widows, their families and community will be educated about widows’ rights and the conversation will be initiated to reduce stigmatisation. The widows will also be supported to set up their own businesses and take advantage of available government facilities to obtain a better life for themselves and their children.
