As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation of women/girls in Pakistan became even more difficult; domestic violence, poverty and related depression and anxiety increased. Many women urgently need psychosocial support, self-care and knowledge on stress management to cope with the challenging situation they find themselves in.
Umeed Partnership Pakistan, one of the few organisations in Pakistan focusing on mental health of vulnerable women and human rights activists, will strengthen the resilience of 11,000 vulnerable women and girls in the slums of Lahore-Punjab in Pakistan. Local facilitators will be trained in basic psycho-social support skills and techniques. Where necessary, professional therapy will be provided by a psychologist.
